MIKE RECEIVES HIS LONG SERVICE AWARD

Our band member Mike Rowe was rewarded for 50 years of service to the banding world on Saturday 1st February as part of the Cornwall Brass Band Association's Festival of Brass 2020.
The award was presented to him by the CBBA's Trevor Bedding (pictured below) to which Mike was applauded from the appreciated audience. The CBBA paid tribute to Mike saying...

"Mike began playing with the band in 1966 on the Tenor Horn under the tutelage of Goff Richards and Micky Hunt. After 2 years, he switched to the Euphonium, and has remained on this instrument ever since.

One of Mike's proudest moments with the band, has been playing at the Royal Albert Hall in the National Finals. He has competed Nationally 3 times, all successfully, the most recent of which was in 2009.

In between years he has attended over 90 contests, often coming home with another first prize trophy for our trophy cabinet and in doing so has made many banding friends around the country."

Mike is a very valued member of our band, not just playing, but has helped to organise and maintain the band for events, normally being the first to arrive and the last to leave. He is well known in our local banding community, often helping out other bands when they are in need of a player for a concert or event. This was the perfect way to thank Mike for his effort, hard work and dedication. The band are very pleased for him and would like to say we hope there will be many more years to come.
