Solo Baritone
Mike Rowe

Mike began playing with the band in 1966 on the Tenor Horn under the tutelage of Goff Richards and Micky Hunt. After 2 years, he switched to the Euphonium, and has remained on this instrument ever since.
One of Mike's proudest moments with the band, has been playing at the Royal Albert Hall in the National Finals. He has competed Nationally 3 times, all successfully, the most recent of which was in 2009.
In between years he has attended over 90 contests, often coming home with another first prize trophy for our trophy cabinet and in doing so has made many banding friends around the country.

2nd Baritone
Sam Dalton

Sam joined St Breward band on Baritone in June 2017 after a 12 year break from playing. She started playing at age 11 in Mount Charles junior band quickly moving on to join Mount Charles Youth band. During her time in Mount Charles she played all over the country becoming National Youth Champions of Great Britain, South West champions for 11 years running and the band also went to play in a World Music Festival in Italy.

Whilst in Mount Charles Sam also had the opportunity to play at the Symphony Hall in Birmingham and The Festival Hall in London in the National Music For Youth Competition which led on to the band opening the School Proms at the Royal Albert Hall. The band played again at the Royal Albert Hall in 2005 just before Sam left, here the band played their set by heart with no music at all; this is Sam’s proudest banding achievement to date.

Sam is really enjoying being back playing the Baritone in St Breward Silver band and does so alongside her job as a primary school teacher.
